About me
From the Commode 64 to 2024. I am a software engineering enthusiast, and I love to tackle large challenges that can only be solved by teams working together.
I manage software engineering teams
I build engineers and engineering teams. More than anything, I love building a positive culture that rewards bravery, curiosity, and teamwork. Ubuntu, as they say.
I solve complicated challenges for businesses. I have worked in engineering for the last fifteen years, across a diverse set of industries, challenges, and countries. As a result, I am comfortable entering new domains, meeting new people, and tackling new challenges.
I have experience with realtime systems, 24 hour uptime requirements, latency and throughput challenges, and the engineering solutions necessary to create success.

ENGINEERING Management
I facilitate the whole lifecycle of building teams that want to work together. From project planning, budgeting, recruitment, to people management, performance management, team management, organisational changes, building culture, etc.
Problem Solving
I am a Chemical Engineering graduate, a self-taught software developer (on the shoulders of giants), a former hedge fund risk manager, and the former CTO of a big-data startup.
I have been exposed to a massive range of technical challenges (low latency, high throughput, big data, modelling, etc), and I have built a diverse skillset for solving problems.
Business Direction
I use these skills together to help companies plan their technical direction. I contribute to project management, budgeting, and building roadmaps. A positive engineering culture helps to make engineers agile, such that company roadmaps can respond to market realities with urgency and low churn.

LEAD ENGINEER
My first job after the startup. I took on an existing team that needed some help. Over two years, we built a greenfield, full-stack, B2B CMS from scratch. Acquired by Aussie Broadband for AU$262m in 2023.
CTO
I built a marketplace startup with a few peers. Marketing was too expensive. So we built another startup! We built a big-data analytical engine for marketing. Acquired by InfluencerDB in 2018.
